I decided to play with my colored pencils. I haven’t used them in FOREVER, so some parts of the image looks a bit funky… but oh well, this piece was just for fun since I haven’t drawn…
I was really inspired by this photo from blackfashion’s tumblr and decided to sketch it really quickly. ^-^
Graphite. 2013.
I didn’t want to waste the rest of what was in the ink well…so I sketched Chibi-Usa and Psy from memory. ^_^
Tonight’s watercolor Ness-n-Sketch session.
I love all the colors used in it to create the skin tones…I really like the vividness of the watercolor. I plan to do more caricatures and/or portraits like this in the future. I really want to add more colorful pieces to my portfolio…
To finish off this image, I think I will overlay my decorative inking style on top, after applying another coat of watercolor. I’m really excited for this piece, and hope it will impress the committee at the meeting, the author I’m working with is attending. O___O
Here are the first three pages I sketched out for my Slizzard Lizard comic book that I hope to have finished and printed by Christmas time to give as gifts to my favorite coworkers!
I plan to scan these in, clean up the lines digitally and of course, add dialogue. This is going to be such a fun, little book!! I’m so excited, and so are my friends! Stay tuned!
Our Slizzard Lizard hostess (Taken with instagram)
She is the first person people encounter when they enter the Slizzard Lizard (the fictional restaurant where my new caricature series/short comic series takes place).
She greets ‘em, seats ‘em, and fixes them a nice, cold one as they come in.
Here is the last of my Christmas Caricature series!!!
Katie, Terresa, and Jhamie love to watch old Christmas cartoons and movies during the holiday season.
This series was based on answers to a survey question I asked on my Facebook illustration page: http://www.facebook.com/VanessaJThompsonIllustrationandDesign
These are all relatively quick sketches and even quicker digital colorings… Technical aspects of these illustrations are not exact… and were never meant to be. These were all simply for the enjoyment of creating caricatures of friends, and are meant as gifts of appreciation to my friends for their love and support of me and my work.
…Now that the 2011 caricatures are done… I can get on to 2012! Cheers!
Here’s a sneak peek at the project I’ve been rambling about in the previous posts ^-^. These are just two small sections of two different pages. There are FIVE 14” x 17” pages total, all filled like the samples you see above. ^-^
Like I said…this is the most epic fan art/ caricature piece I’ve done thus far in my budding illustration career. I’m so excited about this piece, every time I look at it I smile. However, my hand hurts like H.E. double hockey sticks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >_< But I want to get this done before my birthday (on Wednesday)!! I work tomorrow at both of my jobs, so I don’t have time to work on this… Same issue on Tuesday… Looks like I’m going to pull a half-nighter tonight ^-^’
“There’s no other possible explanation… I’m just outrageously Vanessa!”
Progress of my latest Ness-n-Sketch. Not quite sure what all I will do with her hair… this should prove to be interesting ^-^.
